'Bra-Vo!' - helps shape a new kind of art
Surely New York socialite Mary Phelps Jacob would be amazed at what's happened with the object she created using two silk handkerchiefs, some pink ribbon and a length of cord.
The year was 1913 and Jacob was desperate for something other than a whalebone corset to wear under her sheer evening gown. The following year she received a patent for the undergarment known as the brassiere.

Fast forward to 2003, Buffalo, where the bra transcends the function Jacob had in mind.
