WomenStories Stars Perform at the Susan G. Komen Survivors Luncheon
Three Women Stories “stars” provided the entertainment at the Susan G. Komen Survivors lunch in the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park on May 10. Cheryl Gobbetti-Hoffman, a flutist, is a member of the University at Buffalo’s music department faculty and a former member of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. A survivor of breast cancer, Cheryl embraces the musical life for sustenance as well as inspiration. She and her friend Susan Fencher, a soprano saxophonist, played two pieces: “Duets
for Storab” by Harrison Birtwhisle, and “Cantabile” from Sonata I in G Major by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach.

Rebecca Ritchie, another Women Stories star and a breast cancer survivor, is the author of a humorous play HOW to BUY a BRASSIERE, a short piece about a woman buying her first bra with a prosthesis. This woman goes through all kinds of imaginings and embarrassment during her purchase but triumphs over an overbearing saleswoman and makes her purchase. Ms. Ritchie’s other
plays, THE CRUSTACEAN WALTZ, THE SHIVA QUEEN, and PICKING UP HIS SOCKS all deal with how breast cancer affects relationships. Becca is General Counsel of Univera Healthcare, a sponsor of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Aliya Garner is the ten year old daughter of a third WomenStories star, Liya Razor. Aliya sang a gospel song despite being on crutches from an injury to her leg.

Our Womenstories stars are multi faceted and talented!
